Former President Joe Biden has praised President Donald Trump and his staff for finishing the Gaza ceasefire agreement that freed the last 20 Israeli captives held by Hamas. The hostages, who had been kept for about two years, were freed in two groups of seven and thirteen. President Trump, on the other hand, called the day a “tremendous day for the Middle East” and signed a paper with officials from the region to make the peace pact official.
Biden thanks Trump for “getting the deal over the finish line.”
Former President Joe Biden wrote on X (previously Twitter) that he was very happy that the detainees were freed and praised the work of the present administration.
Biden said he was “deeply grateful and relieved that this day has come” for the “last living 20 hostages who have been through unimaginable hell” and are now back with their family. He also sent his thoughts to “the civilians in Gaza who have lost so much and will finally have the chance to rebuild their lives.”
Biden remarked, “I know that the transition between the two administrations was not easy because of the complicated diplomatic work that went into it.”
“It wasn’t simple to get to this deal. My administration worked day and night to get the hostages home, help the Palestinian people, and stop the war. I want to thank President Trump and his colleagues for their work to get a new ceasefire deal done.
He ended with a hopeful picture of the region’s future: “Now, with the support of the United States and the world, the Middle East is on a path to peace that I hope lasts and a future for Israelis and Palestinians alike with equal amounts of peace, dignity, and safety.”
Trump Calls It a “Tremendous Day” and Signs a Peace Deal
The last live hostages were freed at the same time that President Donald Trump was in the Middle East to finalize the deal.
Regional Summit: The BBC said that President Trump called the event a “tremendous day for the Middle East.” He and other officials from the region later signed a contract in Egypt that was meant to make the Gaza ceasefire pact more solid. This was the first step in a larger peace plan.
Before: Trump had already praised the first agreement on his social media site, Truth Social: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan.” This means that all of the hostages will be freed very soon, and Israel will pull back its troops to a line that both sides have agreed on. This is the first step toward a strong, lasting, and permanent peace.
The liberation of the hostages, who were liberated in two groups, is a big step forward for the U.S.-brokered peace plan that aims to stop the fighting and bring long-term security to the area.
