Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar has addressed misconceptions about her weight-loss journey, revealing that she lost over 40 kg without the use of injectables like Ozempic or surgical interventions. Speaking with Soha Ali Khan on her podcast, Bhumi said she often gets asked if she took Ozempic or had a rib removed.
The actor shared that part of her weight loss—about 12 kg—occurred while recovering from dengue in November 2023, during which she also lost half her hair. “The pain you go through is unmatched. It was Diwali, and people were bursting crackers, while I had a splitting headache until I reached the hospital,” Bhumi recalled.
She emphasized the role of dedication and consistent effort in her transformation. “What about the fact that I’ve put 10 years into working out and eating right? In Delhi, women straight up come to me and ask, ‘Aapne bhi Ozempic ya Mounjaro liya hai?’ I know enough people who have taken Ozempic and genuinely needed that medical assistance, so I will never judge anyone for it. But the fact is, I lost 40 kg and more without injectables,” she added.
Ozempic and Mounjaro are prescription medications primarily for adults with type 2 diabetes and have gained attention for their weight-loss effects. However, Bhumi stressed her journey was purely the result of lifestyle changes, not medication.
On the work front, Bhumi was last seen in Mere Husband Ki Biwi (2025), which starred Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh. She is set to appear in The Royals Season 2 alongside Ishaan Khatter, though the release date is yet to be announced.
