The teaser trailer of Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, was released on March 12, 2026, giving fans a glimpse of a spooky yet hilarious horror-comedy. The film marks the much-awaited reunion of Akshay with veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan after a gap of 14 years.
The actor-director duo last collaborated in the 2010 film Khatta Meetha. Over the years, they have delivered several popular comedy films that enjoy a cult following among Bollywood fans.
With Bhooth Bangla, the duo is bringing back a familiar comic ensemble, creating a wave of nostalgia among audiences.
Star-Studded Cast Returns
The film reunites several actors who have previously worked with Priyadarshan in his iconic comedy films. Alongside Akshay Kumar, the movie features Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Manoj Joshi, forming what fans often refer to as the “Priyadarshan cinematic universe”.
The project also marks the reunion of Tabu with Akshay after 25 years. Their last collaboration together was the cult comedy Hera Pheri.
The cast also includes Wamiqa Gabbi and Mithila Palkar, adding fresh faces to the film’s ensemble. Veteran actor Asrani, who passed away in 2025, will appear in the film in his final on-screen role.

On September 9, 2024, the actor shared the first look poster of Bhooth Bangla, writing:
“I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years. This dream collaboration has been a long time coming.”
Ahead of the teaser release, a motion poster was unveiled on March 11, 2026, setting the tone for the horror-comedy. The poster showed Akshay hanging upside down with his signature laugh while bats flew around a spooky mansion, hinting at the film’s supernatural theme.
Plot: A Haunted Town and a Mysterious Spirit
The story of Bhooth Bangla is set in a mysterious town called Mangalpur, where locals claim that no marriages take place because of a dark supernatural presence haunting the area.
Akshay Kumar’s character visits a massive mansion in the town and is initially fascinated by it. In a humorous moment, he jokes that the property is “only two rooms smaller than Buckingham Palace.”
Despite repeated warnings from locals about the haunted house, he remains skeptical and begins forming a bond with Wamiqa Gabbi’s character.
However, things soon spiral into chaos when he, along with Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav, becomes entangled in a series of strange and frightening events linked to a mysterious spirit known as “Vadhusur.”

Bhooth Bangla is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, led by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor, in collaboration with Cape of Good Films, Akshay Kumar’s production house.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 10, 2026, and will hit cinemas worldwide.
