The makers of the upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, are reportedly considering a one-week postponement of the film’s release. Originally slated to hit theaters on April 10, 2026, the film may now shift to April 17 to avoid the unprecedented box-office momentum of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Dhurandhar 2).
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar 2 has become a cinematic juggernaut, amassing a historic 575.72 crore in India within just six days of its March 19 release.

With its worldwide collections already crossing the 900 crore mark, trade analysts predict the spy thriller will continue to dominate screens well into its fourth week, which directly coincides with the original launch window for Bhooth Bangla.

While Akshay Kumar recently stated in an interview that a 21-day gap is usually sufficient for the industry, sources suggest that producers Ekta Kapoor and Akshay Kumar will make a final call within the next 24 hours.
A move to April 17 would provide Bhooth Bangla—a family-oriented reunion between Kumar and director Priyadarshan—a clearer window, as no other major Hindi films are currently scheduled for that date. Consequently, the digital release of the film’s trailer, originally expected on March 27, may also be rescheduled.
