Bengaluru Man Kills Younger Brother With Friends Over Alleged Harassment, Dumps Body In Lake

A shocking case of fraternal murder has emerged in Bengaluru, where a 28-year-old man, Shivaraj, allegedly murdered his younger brother, Dhanraj (24), with the assistance of two friends. The body was subsequently dumped in a lake earlier this month.

The victim, Dhanraj, reportedly had a history of violent and criminal behavior that led his elder brother, Shivaraj, to plan the murder out of an alleged inability to endure the continuous harassment at home.

The Motive: Enduring Harassment

According to police statements given by Shivaraj, the victim lived with their parents in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district and was allegedly involved in several cases, including:

  • Theft
  • Drinking problems
  • Frequent fights
  • Violent behavior, including regularly assaulting his parents.

Neighbors had also frequently complained about Dhanraj stealing their mobile phones and livestock. The report further suggests that Dhanraj had even attacked Shivaraj when questioned about his actions. Shivaraj, a cab driver, told police he was “unable to endure this continuous harassment” and, with the help of his friends Sandeep and Prashant, decided to kill his brother.

The Execution of the Plan

Shivaraj allegedly called Dhanraj to Bengaluru on November 2 under the false pretense of helping him find a job.

  1. The Pickup: The three accused men picked up Dhanraj from the Bannerghatta-NICE Road in Bengaluru.
  2. The Attack: Dhanraj was seated in the front passenger seat, engrossed in his mobile phone, when Sandeep and Prashant allegedly grabbed him from the back. Shivaraj then allegedly struck Dhanraj on the neck with a machete, killing him on the spot.
  3. Dumping the Body: The group drove to the Bannerghatta–Kaggalipura road, where they dumped Dhanraj’s body in a lake. They later disposed of the car’s floor mat and the murder weapon near the Electronic City-NICE Road.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The crime was uncovered when police found the victim’s decomposed body on November 6. Initial suspicions leaned towards an unnatural but not necessarily criminal death. However, CCTV footage from a nearby private company proved crucial, showing the accused vehicle stopping and the body being dumped.

Bannerghatta police traced the vehicle’s number to the accused, leading to the arrest of all three men: Shivaraj, Sandeep, and Prashant. A murder case has been filed, and the accused have been sent to judicial custody.
