Los Angeles [US], December 19: The trailer for the upcoming documentary Becoming Madonna has been released. The film offers an immersive and archive-driven experience, built around newly discovered audio tapes in which a young Madonna reflects on her life and career.
Becoming Madonna presents the iconic star in an entirely new light, featuring rare footage, unseen photos, and intimate recordings with those who were close to her during her rise to fame. Some of these individuals, who have never spoken in a documentary before, share their perspectives. According to Variety, the film provides a candid view of Madonna, showing her as “we’ve never seen her before.”
The documentary delves into the personal tragedies that shaped her determination, including the early death of her mother and the loss of significant people in her life, such as her dance teacher Christopher Flynn and close friend Martin Burgoyne, who passed away during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s.
Scheduled for release on December 30, Becoming Madonna promises to offer a fresh perspective on the pop legend. Hayley Reynolds, Acting Director of Documentaries and Factual at Sky, stated, “Since her debut in the ’80s, Madonna has been a powerhouse in pop music, paving the way for many of today’s most popular artists. This film brings a new angle on this enduring icon, and we’re excited to collaborate with Optomen to share her story with Sky audiences.”
Madonna, who is one of the best-selling artists of all time, has sold over 400 million records worldwide.
