Beating Retreat Ceremony Concludes Republic Day Celebrations With Grand Musical Display

New Delhi [India]: The Beating Retreat ceremony, marking the grand conclusion of the Republic Day celebrations, mesmerized spectators with a synchronised performance by the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). The event featured a spectacular display of military bands, marching formations, and foot-tapping Indian tunes, leaving the audience spellbound.

Traditional Grandeur at Vijay Chowk

Held at Vijay Chowk, at the foot of Raisina Hill, the ceremony witnessed the arrival of President Droupadi Murmu in a traditional six-horse carriage buggy, adding to the historical significance of the event.

The ceremony began with the massed band’s rendition of ‘Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja’, followed by captivating Indian tunes such as ‘Amar Bharati’, ‘Indradhanush’, ‘Jai Janam Bhumi’, ‘Nati in Himalayan Valley’, ‘Ganga Jamuna’, and ‘Veer Siachen’, performed by the Pipes & Drums band.

Musical Extravaganza by Military Bands

The CAPF bands played patriotic melodies like ‘Vijay Bharat’, ‘Rajasthan Troops’, ‘Aye Watan Tere Liye’, and ‘Bharat ke Jawan’.

The Indian Air Force band performed ‘Galaxy Rider’, ‘Stride’, ‘Rubaru’, and ‘Millennium Flight Fantasy’, while the Indian Navy band presented ‘Rashtriya Pratham’, ‘Nishak Nishpad’, ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, ‘Spread the Light of Freedom’, ‘Rhythm of the Reef’, and ‘Jai Bharati’.

The Indian Army band enthralled the audience with ‘Veer Sapoot’, ‘Taqat Watan’, ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’, ‘Dhruv’, and ‘Faulad Ka Jigar’.

The Massed Bands came together for a final performance of ‘Priyam Bharatam’, ‘Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon’, and ‘Drummers Call’.

The ceremony concluded with the stirring tune of ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’, played by the buglers, as the sunset over Raisina Hill gave way to the dazzling lights illuminating North Block and South Block.

A Nostalgic Tribute to Military Tradition

As per centuries-old military tradition, ‘Beating Retreat’ signifies the moment when troops cease fighting, sheathe their arms, and return to their camps at sunset at the sound of the Retreat. The casing of Colours and Standards and the lowering of flags reflect a solemn yet celebratory military custom.

Many in the audience captured the breathtaking ceremony on their phones, eager to share the proud moment with their families and friends.

Dignitaries in Attendance

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

After the event, PM Modi briefly walked toward the gathering and waved to the enthusiastic crowd, adding a personal touch to the grand occasion.

A Fitting Finale to Republic Day Celebrations

Under the baton of Commander Manoj Sebastian, the bands of the Indian Armed Forces and CAPFs performed a total of 30 Indian tunes, reinforcing the spirit of nationalism and cultural pride.

The Beating Retreat Ceremony 2025 successfully combined tradition, discipline, and musical grandeur, leaving an indelible mark on all those who witnessed it.
