Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cautioned that the ongoing US-Iran war could have long-lasting effects on India, particularly on energy supply chains and inflation.
Modi urged citizens and states to remain prepared for emerging challenges, stressing the need for coordinated action similar to the response during the COVID-19 pandemic. He asked state governments to protect vulnerable groups, especially migrant workers, and take strict measures against black marketing.
Highlighting government preparedness, the Prime Minister said seven empowered groups have been formed to monitor fuel supply, fertilisers, and inflation control. He assured that safeguarding national interest remains the top priority.
Modi also emphasised India’s humanitarian efforts, noting that over 3.75 lakh Indians have been evacuated from conflict zones, including more than 1,000 from Iran. He reiterated India’s push for a peaceful resolution, stating that threats to human life are against the interest of humanity.
