BCCI To Announce Squad For ICC Champions Trophy And England ODI Series In Mumbai

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) chief selector Ajit Agarkar, alongside India’s team captain Rohit Sharma, will hold a press conference on Saturday in Mumbai to announce the squad for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy and the three-match ODI series against England.

The BCCI issued a media advisory regarding the event, confirming that both Agarkar and Sharma will be present at the press conference, which is scheduled to take place at 12:30 PM IST.

According to the BCCI statement, “The Men’s Selection Committee will select India’s squad for the IDFC First Bank ODI series against England and the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tomorrow in Mumbai. The Selection Meeting will be followed by a press conference.”

The ICC Champions Trophy, which is set to begin on February 19 and run until March 9, will be a key challenge for India. The tournament will be co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE, with India’s matches taking place in the UAE under a hybrid model. The eight-team tournament will feature 15 50-over matches and will be played across Pakistan and Dubai.

The most anticipated match of the tournament will be between India and Pakistan, scheduled for February 23 in Dubai. India will kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20, with their final league match against New Zealand on March 2. The tournament is divided into two groups: Group A will feature defending champions and hosts Pakistan, along with India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, while Group B includes 2023 World Cup champions Australia, Afghanistan, England, and South Africa.

Before the ICC Champions Trophy, India will play a three-match ODI series against England, starting on February 6. India will also engage in a five-match T20I series against England, which will begin on January 22 in Kolkata. The second and third T20Is will be held on January 25 and 28 in Chennai and Rajkot, respectively, while the fourth match is scheduled for January 31 in Pune. Mumbai will host the final T20I on February 2.
