In a significant step towards strengthening women’s cricket in India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a steep hike in match fees for women cricketers. The decision comes in the wake of India’s historic triumph at the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, where the Women in Blue clinched their maiden title by defeating South Africa in the final.
According to a report by media, the BCCI has increased the domestic match fee for women players from Rs 20,000 per day to Rs 50,000 per day — more than doubling the earlier amount. The revised pay structure applies to women’s domestic cricket and is being seen as a recognition of the team’s on-field success and growing stature in international cricket.
India’s World Cup victory marked a landmark moment for women’s cricket in the country, drawing widespread praise and renewed focus on pay parity, infrastructure and long-term investment in the women’s game. The fee hike is expected to further motivate players and encourage young talent to pursue cricket professionally.
BCCI officials have not yet issued a detailed statement, and further updates are expected as the policy is formally rolled out.
