NEW DELHI – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a huge financial prize of ₹21 crore for the Indian team and its support staff after they won the Asia Cup 2025. The announcement is a way to celebrate the team’s great accomplishment, which included going undefeated in the competition.
Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the BCCI, confirmed the decision to media, saying, “It was an extraordinary victory, and as part of the celebrations, the BCCI has announced a cash award of ₹21 crore for the players and support staff who are part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup.”
Saikia said that the money is “a big reward for our team and the Indian cricket board as well as the people of India,” but the BCCI did not say exactly how it would be used. We are quite proud of our players and the support personnel for how well they did in Dubai.
The BCCI also tweeted a statement on social media that said, “Three blows.” No answer. Winners of the Asia Cup. Message sent. “Rs 21 crores in prize money for the team and support staff,” which is an obvious allusion to India’s three wins over Pakistan in the competition.
Controversy Over Prize Money and Trophies
This ₹21 crore incentive is not the same as the official prize money for the tournament. Reports say that India will get USD 300,000 (about ₹2.6 crore) for winning the Asia Cup. This is a big boost from what they got in the past.
At the presentation event on Sunday, though, the team did not get the formal prize money, medals, or trophy for winning. The Indian team refused to receive the trophy from PCB and ACC president Mohsin Naqvi because of ongoing issues with the Pakistan team and cricket board. This caused the presentation to finish in a chaotic and sudden way. The BCCI has also spoken out against this event, with an official saying that the Indian board will file a complaint.
India won their seventh Asia Cup title after a nail-biting finale in the final, as they chased down a target of 147 against Pakistan. The win made the team “unbeaten” in the event, which is a big deal before the T20 World Cup.
