Rajasthan’s Barmer district has been placed under a high red alert as India-Pakistan tensions escalate following Operation Sindoor. District Collector Tina Dabi has directed all residents to remain indoors, suspending public movement and closing markets to ensure civilian safety.
“Everyone is directed to go to their house. There is a high red alert in the district. Don’t go out in markets or public places,” Dabi announced.
The alert follows the discovery of unidentified projectile debris in Baldev Nagar, near the Uttarlai Air Force Station and Jalipa Military Station. Local residents reported hearing loud noises between 5:15 and 5:30 a.m., after which the debris was found. While security forces successfully neutralized the threat, officials have yet to confirm the origin or type of the projectile.
Similar fragments were also found in Mughlani Kot village in Amritsar, Punjab. Village Sarpanch Gursahib Singh confirmed that the debris fell around 5 a.m., but no injuries were reported.
These developments come as Indian forces launched retaliatory strikes on four Pakistani airbases early Saturday morning, following Pakistan’s attack on 26 locations across India. The situation remains tense with intermittent cross-border firing continuing along the Line of Control.
