The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has found itself in the midst of controversy just hours after declaring the results of its board elections on Monday. In a surprising move, the National Sports Council (NSC) swiftly removed Ishfaq Ahsan, a newly elected director, from his post, citing his alleged political affiliations.
Ahsan had been appointed as one of two government-nominated representatives on the BCB board, but his tenure turned out to be remarkably short-lived. Confirming the development, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Executive Director of the NSC, stated,
“We have removed him for his political links. A new director will be appointed.”
