Balochistan [Pakistan], May 14: Amid ongoing reports of violence and human rights violations in Balochistan, the Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has strongly condemned a recent rocket launcher attack targeting the residence of Jangiyan Baloch, a civilian residing in the Balicha area of Tump Tehsil, District Kech.
Taking to social media platform X, the BWF alleged that the attack was carried out by “death squads”—local armed groups allegedly operating under the protection and support of Pakistani law enforcement agencies.
“We, the Baloch Women Forum (BWF), denounce the ugly attack of rocket launchers on the home of a civilian, Jangiyan Baloch, in district Kech’s Balicha in the strongest possible terms and deem it an attack on the societal order and organization of the Baloch,” the forum stated in a post.
The assault reportedly injured three members of Jangiyan Baloch’s family: his son Nawaz Jangiyan, daughter-in-law Ayesha Mulla Raza, and wife Modho Naik Bakht.
The BWF condemned the growing impunity of armed factions in Balochistan, accusing them of spreading violence and fear with tacit state support.
“These groups have been given a free hand to destabilise the social order. They function with impunity and are unaccountable due to the backing they receive from state institutions,” the statement read.
The forum emphasized the deteriorating security situation in Tump, describing it as one of the most severely impacted regions in Balochistan. It claimed that the area has become a hotspot for targeted killings, enforced disappearances, and attacks on civilians, driven by unchecked armed groups.
In response to the incident and the broader pattern of violence, the Baloch Women Forum demanded:
- An immediate end to what it termed the “illegal privileges” granted to armed militias in Balochistan.
- A permanent halt to all human rights violations in Tump and across Balochistan.
- A transparent and impartial investigation into the rocket attack on Jangiyan Baloch’s home.
- Medical and financial support for the injured family members.
- Legal action against those responsible for the assault.
The BWF’s statement highlights the ongoing plight of civilians in Balochistan, where allegations of state complicity in violence and suppression continue to draw concern from rights groups and international observers.
