Badlapur 2 Is Coming! Prime Video & Maddock Strike Big OTT Deal

Mumbai, India – In a major move for Indian cinema, Prime Video has announced a multi-year post-theatrical licensing deal with production house Maddock Films. The partnership, which gives the streaming giant exclusive global rights to Maddock’s theatrical releases from 2025 to 2027, has also revealed several surprising new film titles, including sequels to the popular films Badlapur and Shiddat.

The new films will be available on Prime Video after their theatrical runs, giving audiences a chance to watch them from anywhere in the world.

A Strong Slate of Films

The deal includes several previously announced films, such as the romantic comedy Param Sundari, which stars Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor and is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 29. Also part of the slate is Thama, a vampire movie featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

In addition to these titles, two other unannounced films from Maddock’s horror-comedy universe—which includes hits like Stree and Bhediya—are also part of the deal.

Sequels and Big-Budget Titles

The most notable revelation from the deal, however, is the announcement of sequels to two of Maddock’s past hits: Badlapur and Shiddat. The original Badlapur (2015), directed by Sriram Raghavan, was a gritty revenge thriller that starred Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The original Shiddat (2021) was a romantic drama starring Sunny Kaushal and Radhika Madan. The sequels to both films are now confirmed to be on the way. The deal also includes Sriram Raghavan’s next directorial, Ikkis, which stars Agastya Nanda and will also be available on Prime Video after its theatrical release.

Dinesh Vijan, founder and CEO of Maddock Films, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, stating that the partnership reflects a shared vision of taking Indian stories to a global audience.
