Babil Khan Pens Emotional Tribute To Father Irrfan Khan On Fifth Death Anniversary

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] : On the fifth death anniversary of celebrated actor Irrfan Khan, his son Babil Khan took to social media to remember his father with a heartfelt tribute and a precious childhood photograph.

In the touching image, a young Babil is seen leaning lovingly on his “abba,” capturing a moment of warmth between the father-son duo. Alongside the image, Babil shared a poem that reflected deep emotion and longing:

“With you, without you. Life goes on,
With me, without me. Soon I’ll be there.
With you, not without you.
And we will run together, and fly,
Drink from waterfalls, pink not blue.
I will hug you so tight, and I will cry,
Then we’ll laugh, just like we used to.
I miss you.”

The emotional note struck a chord with fans and admirers of Irrfan Khan, who is remembered as one of Indian cinema’s most versatile and globally respected actors.

Irrfan Khan’s career spanned over three decades, starting with his debut in the Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay! and moving through iconic roles in critically acclaimed films like The Lunchbox, Life in a… Metro, and Hindi Medium. His international acclaim came with performances in major global productions including Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, Jurassic World, and The Namesake.

Tragically, Irrfan Khan passed away on April 29, 2020, in Mumbai, after battling a rare form of cancer—neuroendocrine tumour. His death was a massive loss to the world of cinema, both in India and internationally.

Babil, who has followed in his father’s footsteps as an actor, often shares memories of his late father, offering fans a glimpse into their special bond. His tribute today was a reminder of the profound personal and cultural impact Irrfan left behind.
