Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma Trailer Out: Horror, Comedy & Vampires This Diwali

Mumbai: Maddock Films on Friday unveiled the much-anticipated trailer of its upcoming horror comedy Thamma, headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana and featuring Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. The film is set for a theatrical release on October 21, coinciding with Diwali.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar (Munjya) and written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara, Thamma is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Stree director Amar Kaushik.

A Vampire Gone Rogue

The film’s villain, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, plays Yakshasan, a leader of the Betaals — a clan of vampires originally meant to protect humanity. Under his rule, however, the Betaals go rogue and begin feeding on human blood.

The story follows Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana), who unexpectedly crosses paths with Yakshasan and Tadaka, another vampire who also becomes his love interest. His transformation into a vampire — while dealing with clueless parents (played by Paresh Rawal and Geeta Aggarwal Sharma) — and his ultimate face-off with Yakshasan shape the film’s narrative.

In the trailer, a bewildered Alok exclaims:

“Ab main kya karoonga? Meri life, mere ambition sab khatam. Rajma chawal kaise khaoonga?”

Ayushmann on His “Biggest Release”

Calling Thamma the “biggest release” of his career, Khurrana shared:

“For me, Diwali is about togetherness, it is about family and it is about having the best community experience by spending time with your friends. … It feels amazing to have a big Diwali release with Thamma. It is the biggest release of my career and I’m really eager to spread joy, happiness and laughter with the entire country.”

Maddock Horror Comedy Universe Expands

The trailer also teases crossovers in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya makes an appearance, while Sathyaraj’s Elvis Karim Prabhakar (from Munjya) also returns. Faisal Khan (famed for Panchayat) plays a key role in the film.

With its blend of horror, quirky humor, and a star-studded cast, Thamma aims to be Maddock’s next festive blockbuster.
