18-Year-Old Ayush Mhatre Breaks Rohit Sharma’s 19-Year Record With Sensational T20 Century

Ayush Mhatre created history on Friday, surpassing former India captain Rohit Sharma to clinch a remarkable record during Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy clash against Vidarbha. The 18-year-old smashed his maiden T20 century, guiding Mumbai to a dominant seven-wicket win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

With this feat, Mhatre has now become the youngest player ever to score a century across all three major formats of domestic cricket — T20s, first-class, and List A. At just 18 years and 135 days, he overtook Rohit Sharma, who had set the record at 19 years and 339 days, holding it untouched for nearly 19 years.

Mhatre’s achievement comes on the same day he was appointed captain of India’s U19 team for the upcoming Asia Cup. He hammered his century in a blistering 49 balls, hitting eight sixes and eight fours, showcasing his exceptional talent and readiness for the big stage.
