Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh [India]: As Prayagraj draws massive crowds for the ongoing Mahakumbh, Ayodhya is also experiencing a significant rise in the number of visiting devotees.
Ayodhya SP Madhuvan Kumar Singh stated that the city has been divided into six zones and 11 sectors to manage the growing influx of pilgrims.
“The number of devotees is increasing day by day. Since the beginning of the Maha Kumbh Mela, people traveling to take a holy dip in Kumbh Mela have also come here to seek the darshan of Lord Shri Ram and Hanuman ji in Ayodhya Dham. Lakhs of devotees have been arriving since morning to take darshan and bathe in the Sarayu River,” he said.
To ensure security and smooth movement, Upper Superintendents of Police have been assigned at the zonal level, while Deputy Superintendents oversee sector-level management.
“From the point of view of security, the entire Ayodhya Dham has been divided into six zones and 11 sectors, and police duty has been imposed. There are various diversion points and static points where inspector, deputy inspector, constable, and women police have been deployed. A route has been made for the devotees, allowing them to enter from one side and exit from the other,” Singh added.
Authorities have also identified specific holding areas to manage crowd surges effectively.
CM Yogi Highlights Ayodhya’s Growth and Faith Revival
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the remarkable transformation of Ayodhya, Kashi, and Prayagraj, citing them as symbols of India’s growing potential. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for restoring global respect for India’s faith and traditions.
CM Yogi highlighted that the number of visitors to Ayodhya has skyrocketed from 2.35 lakh in 2016-17 to over 14-15 crore in 2024, reflecting the growing reverence for faith and the region’s economic progress.
“Prayagraj, Kashi, and Ayodhya demonstrated India’s potential. Our economy is stronger than those who oppose Maha Kumbh. Devotees are also showcasing India’s spiritual strength to the world. More than 53 crore devotees have taken a holy dip so far. In 2016-17, when there was no BJP government in UP, only 2.35 lakh devotees used to visit Ayodhya; in 2024, this number has increased to over 14-15 crore,” the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated.
He further stressed that Uttar Pradesh has made significant strides in the past eight years, with the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative replacing Chinese goods with locally made gifts during festivals.
“Along with respecting faith, its economic aspect is also important. UP has made a lot of progress in 8 years. Now, during festivals, ODOP products are given as gifts instead of Chinese products. For the first time, under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the faith of the country has been honored,” the CMO added.
As Mahakumbh in Prayagraj continues, CM Yogi stated that over 53 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam, and the pilgrimage will continue for the next nine days.
