The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that the second anniversary of the Pran-Pratishtha (consecration ceremony) of Lord Ram Lalla will be celebrated on December 31, 2025.
While the idol was installed in the sanctum sanctorum on January 22, 2024, the Trust has decided to adhere to the Hindu calendar tradition for celebrating festivals. The consecration took place on Paush Shukla Paksh Dwadshi (the 12th day of the bright fortnight in the Hindu month of Paush), also known as Kurma Dwadashi. This specific Hindu date falls on December 31 this year, and the celebration has been formally named Prathistha Dwadshi. The first anniversary was celebrated earlier this year on January 11, which coincided with the same Hindu lunar date.
Grand Flag Hoisting Planned
The anniversary celebrations, which will kick off with rituals starting on December 27, are planned with “pomp and grandeur.” A highlight of the ceremony will be the flag hoisting on the spires of the seven sub-temples within the temple complex, dedicated to Shiva, Surya, Ganpati, Hanumana, Bhagwati, Annapurna, and Sheshavatara.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are both likely to attend the December 31 ceremony as chief guests and may jointly hoist the flags on the seven spires. The framework and precise sequence of the day’s events are expected to be finalized at a meeting scheduled by the Trust for Saturday.
Temple Completion Marked by PM Modi
This celebration follows the recent ceremonial hoisting of a special saffron flag by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the main spire of the temple last month, signifying the completion of the temple’s construction.
Constructed in the traditional Nagara style, the three-storied Ram Mandir measures 380 feet long, 250 feet wide, and 161 feet high. It is supported by 392 pillars and features 44 doors. The complex is now a complete cultural and religious hub, featuring 87 intricately carved stone episodes from the Valmiki Ramayana on its outer walls, along with the newly completed temples dedicated to Maharishi Valmiki, Vashishtha, and other sages.
