NEW DELHI – Amid increasing speculation surrounding last month’s Air India crash in Ahmedabad, Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Sunday called for patience, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the official findings of the ongoing investigation. He urged both the public and media to refrain from drawing premature conclusions.
The Air India Group has already begun inspecting the fuel switch locking system in its Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft in the wake of the incident.
Addressing concerns about external pressures and misinformation during the probe, Naidu stated in the Rajya Sabha, “We want to stand with truth, not anything else.” He lauded the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the agency conducting the inquiry, for its impartiality. “AAIB follows a definitive, rule-based process, totally unbiased in probing the Air India Ahmedabad plane crash,” Naidu asserted, reaffirming the government’s trust in the agency’s methodology.
The crash, which took place on June 12, is currently under active investigation. While a preliminary report has been reviewed, Naidu cautioned against hasty judgments. “Making any comments until the final report has come, I don’t think it is a good exercise on behalf of anyone. We are also very cautious and studying the report thoroughly, and whatever necessary needs to be done in terms of safety, we are ready to do it,” he said.
