“The One Who Scares Me Is Bumrah”: Australian Envoy Philip Green Lauds India’s Pace Ace Ahead Of T20 Tour

Australia’s High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, has heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah, calling him “probably the best bowler in the world” and admitting that the Indian pace spearhead is the player who “scares” him the most ahead of India’s white-ball tour to Australia in October.

“The one who really scares me is Bumrah… probably the best bowler in the world. He reminds me a bit of Max Walker—ugly in the run-up, but then it’s all pace, grace, and power,” Green told media.

🧨 Bumrah: Fear Factor Personified

With his unorthodox action, metronomic accuracy, and a lethal combination of swing, pace, and deception, Bumrah continues to terrify batters across formats. His short, stuttering run-up and whip-like wrist action remain a mystery even to seasoned campaigners.

Often hailed as India’s X-factor, Bumrah’s performance has been central to India’s rise as a dominant force in world cricket.

🏏 India’s Tour of Australia: What’s Ahead

🗓️ Tour Dates: October 2025
📋 Format: 3 ODIs, 5 T20Is
💥 Key Players to Watch:

  • India: Jasprit Bumrah, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav

This highly anticipated tour comes on the heels of India’s successful 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which garnered a record 192.5 million TV viewers and 52 billion minutes of total watch time across platforms.

🌍 From Cricket to Commerce: The Bigger Picture

While cricket is a shared passion, Philip Green highlighted the deeper strategic and economic ties between the two nations:

“Cricket is a wonderful connection… but our pitch to Indian business is—come for the cricket, stay for the business.”

He also called the India-Australia rivalry “the apex cricket rivalry in the world”, surpassing even the Ashes in significance.

“To beat India—1.4 billion people with a lot of cricket bats and a lot of capability—that’s a huge thing,” he said.
