Washington [US], May 18: Singer Aubrey O’Day has publicly addressed the ongoing federal trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs, expressing mixed emotions about the case. “This trial is bittersweet for me, as I’ve been speaking the truth about Diddy for 20 years now,” O’Day said.
The singer, best known for her time with the girl group Danity Kane, announced her new podcast Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes Present: Aubrey O’Day, Covering the Diddy Trial, which she says is part of her healing process after being removed from the band in 2008 during MTV’s Making the Band.
“This podcast is the first step in reclaiming my voice and career that I was robbed of when I was abruptly fired from my band in order to appear discredited,” she explained.
O’Day expressed sympathy for the victims, adding, “My heart goes out to all the victims, especially those who could have been spared, had anyone taken these claims seriously prior.” She hopes the trial will lead to justice and systemic changes in the music industry to prevent abuse by powerful figures.
Despite speculation, O’Day confirmed she will not be testifying in the trial. “No, I’m not here to testify for the Diddy trial, that I know of,” she told host T.J. Holmes during the podcast’s premiere. She clarified that while she met with Homeland Security, her presence in New York was not related to the court proceedings.
Diddy, who was arrested in September 2024, faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. The case gained momentum after singer Cassie Ventura, his former partner, filed a lawsuit in 2023 alleging years of abuse. Prosecutors accuse Combs of operating a criminal enterprise since 2008. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies any wrongdoing. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 15 years in prison.
