Los Angeles [US], June 17: Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, best known for her role as Lily Tucker-Pritchett on the hit sitcom Modern Family, has publicly come out as bisexual.
The 18-year-old actress shared the news in a lighthearted Instagram video posted on Monday, where she lip-synced a memorable scene from Modern Family. In the clip, Gloria (played by Sofia Vergara) tells Lily, “You are Vietnamese,” to which Lily replies, “No, I’m not, I’m gay, I’m gay!” Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s character Mitchell then interjects, “Honey, no, you’re not gay. You are just confused!”
Adding her own twist, Aubrey lip-synced to Lily’s part and overlaid the video with the caption: “People keep joking so much about me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi).” She further wrote in the post’s caption, “happy pride month to all and to all a goodnight hehehe.”
The video quickly sparked excitement and support from fans. One commenter said, “Omgggg Cam and Mitch would be so happy!” while another added, “Coming out to this audio is truly iconic!”
Aubrey portrayed Lily from a young age on Modern Family, a series that aired from 2009 to 2020 and earned 22 Emmy Awards, including five for Best Comedy Series. The show became a cultural touchstone for its diverse and heartfelt depiction of modern families, and Aubrey remains one of its most memorable child stars.
