Atishi Slams BJP Government Over Unfulfilled Promises Ahead Of Delhi Assembly Session

New Delhi [India]: Ahead of the Delhi Assembly session on Monday, former Delhi Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi criticized the BJP government for failing to fulfill its promises made to the people of the national capital.

Atishi particularly highlighted the unfulfilled promise of providing ₹2,500 per month to every woman in Delhi, which was supposed to be approved in the first cabinet meeting of the new government.

Speaking to ANI, Atishi said:
“People of Delhi have given us the responsibility of the opposition, and we will raise their voice in the Assembly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP had promised that in the first cabinet meeting, a scheme to give ₹2,500 per month to every woman would be passed. However, that has not happened yet. The first installment was promised by March 8, and we will raise this issue in the Assembly.”

She further claimed that the BJP government is making excuses to avoid fulfilling its promises.

“I had predicted even before the swearing-in of the BJP government that they would make some excuse for not fulfilling their promises. When Arvind Kejriwal became Chief Minister, Delhi’s budget was ₹30,000 crore. Yet, he ran a profitable government that provided free electricity, free water, good schools, quality hospitals, free bus travel, and even free pilgrimage. Now they are saying that the treasury is empty. There is no shortage of money; there is only a shortage of intent,” Atishi added.

Atishi contrasted the current BJP-led administration with the previous AAP government under Arvind Kejriwal, which, despite financial limitations, introduced several free public services such as electricity, water, and healthcare.

The BJP formed the government in Delhi after 27 years, securing 48 out of 70 seats in the assembly elections held earlier this month. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to win only 22 seats, while Congress failed to secure a single seat.
