Dubai (UAE), March 4: Actor Athiya Shetty expressed her admiration for her husband, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, after his stellar performance in the India vs Australia match during the Champions Trophy 2025.
Taking to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, Athiya shared a picture of KL Rahul from the match and added a red heart emoji. She also congratulated the Indian team for their victory, which saw them knock Australia out of the tournament and reach the semi-final.
Athiya’s brother, Ahan Shetty, also took to social media to congratulate KL Rahul, writing, “Let’s go.”
Actor Arjun Kapoor joined in the celebrations by posting a sweet meme on his Instagram Story featuring Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, with the caption: “KLassy by KL, Kohlity by Kohli.”
KL Rahul played an important role in India’s victory, scoring a calm 42* against Australia in the Champions Trophy semifinals, sealing the match with a six. He also reached a significant milestone, completing 3,000 runs in ODIs. In 84 matches and 78 innings, Rahul has accumulated 3,009 runs at an average of 48.53, with seven centuries and 18 fifties. His highest score in ODIs is 112. Known for his versatility, he has excelled for India in various batting positions, including as an opener and in the middle order at number five and six.
India’s four-wicket victory over Australia in the semi-final marked a sweet moment of revenge for their heartbreak in the 2023 ODI World Cup, and the team successfully chased down a challenging 265-run target. This victory also set a new record, as it became India’s highest successful chase in an ICC event, surpassing their previous best of 261 runs in the 2011 World Cup quarter-final.
Athiya and KL Rahul recently shared the exciting news that they are expecting their first child together. The couple posted a heartwarming note, saying, “Our beautiful blessing is coming soon. 2025 (baby feet emojis).”
