Guwahati (Assam) [India], January 19: The Assamese short film ‘Ansuni Chinkhe’, written and directed by Dr. Parthasarathi Mahanta, has received widespread acclaim at the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2024.
Dr. Mahanta, who is also the Chief of the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and the Guwahati Police Commissioner, showcased his creative talents through this moving short film. It was featured in the Worldwood International Panorama segment under the international competition category on January 17.
Produced by Mina Mahanta and Indrani Baruah, the film captured the attention of both audiences and critics. Actress Seema Biswas, who portrayed the sole character in the film, won the prestigious Best Actress award for her performance. Additionally, Dr. Mahanta’s directorial skills were recognized with the Best Director award in the short film category.
The Jaipur International Film Festival, currently in its 17th edition, is one of India’s largest non-governmental film festivals. The event, which began on January 17 and runs until January 21, received 2,408 entries from 88 countries. Founded in 2009, JIFF is organized by the Jaipur International Film Festival Trust and was established by Hanu Roj.
