Assam CM Sarma Slams Rahul Gandhi, Accuses Congress Of Promoting Chaos

Nagaon (Assam) [India]: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday criticized Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his alleged behavior during a scuffle in Parliament. The Chief Minister claimed the incident revealed Gandhi’s “true character.”

“Rahul Gandhi’s behavior yesterday shocked us all. He pushed a senior MP and misconducted himself towards a woman MP from Nagaland. This incident was unimaginable—we had never seen or heard anything like it before. His character has now been exposed to the public,” Sarma said while addressing the media in Nagaon.

The Assam CM further alleged, “People will now realize that this kind of leader will only bring darkness. They don’t show hope or light; they divide society and perpetuate injustice.”

Parliament Scuffle and Protests
Thursday morning saw parallel protests from both the ruling BJP and the Opposition INDIA Bloc in Parliament. While BJP MPs demonstrated against the Congress party for allegedly “insulting” BR Ambedkar, the INDIA Bloc, led by Rahul Gandhi, demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation over remarks on Ambedkar.

Amid the protests, tensions flared, leading to a scuffle between members of both parties. Two BJP MPs, Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, sustained injuries and were admitted to Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Allegations Against Indian Youth Congress President
Addressing a separate issue, CM Sarma alleged that Indian Youth Congress President Uday Bhanu Chib was detained at a Guwahati hotel to prevent unrest. “They came from Himachal Pradesh to create trouble here. In another state, they might have been jailed, but Assam is a loving state, so they are being kept in a hotel,” Sarma remarked.

Criticism of Assam Congress
Sarma also accused the Assam Congress leadership, including Bhupen Kumar Borah and Ripun Bora, of attempting to incite violence in Guwahati. “There is a competition among 2-3 Congress leaders to prove who is the biggest leader, and in this rivalry, they are holding Guwahati hostage. Political parties should focus on elections, not agitations,” he said.

Development Initiatives in Assam
On Friday, CM Sarma distributed benefits to over 20,000 students under the state government’s “12 Days of Development” initiative, furthering Assam’s developmental agenda.
