Colombo: India’s batting star Abhishek Sharma kept on his amazing run spree in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match against Sri Lanka on Friday, making history with an amazing feat.
Abhishek, who once again came through with the bat by producing a smooth half-century, becoming the first player in T20 Asia Cup history to score more than 300 runs in a single tournament. He broke the record for the continental competition by scoring more than Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan’s 281 runs in 2022.
Virat Kohli and Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan are tied for third place on the exclusive list, having each scored 196 runs in prior seasons.
Consistency at Its Best
This performance was Abhishek’s sixth straight T20I score of 30 or more, which ties him with Rizwan and Indian captain Rohit Sharma for the record.
The half-century was Abhishek’s sixth fifty in 25 or less deliveries, which added even more shine to the achievement. This shows that he is one of the most explosive young batters in the format.
He was out for 61 runs by Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka, but not before making another impact on the game that will last forever.
Abhishek has made a strong case for being India’s mainstay in the shortest version of the game and a player to watch in world cricket.
