Chandigarh (Punjab): Priyansh Arya’s maiden century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) propelled the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to a commanding total of 219 and set the stage for an 18-run win over the five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

Chasing 220, CSK got off to a steady start with openers Rachin Ravindra (36 off 23) and Devon Conway (69 off 49) putting on 59 runs in the powerplay. However, PBKS struck back in the seventh over when Glenn Maxwell dismissed Rachin. Soon after, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed cheaply for 1 in the eighth over.
Despite the setbacks, CSK reached 100 in the 11th over and 150 by the 16th. Conway and Shivam Dube (42 off 27) stitched together a solid 89-run partnership off 51 balls. Dube’s dismissal in the 16th over by Lockie Ferguson proved to be a turning point.
In a tactical move, Conway retired out in the 18th over, making way for Ravindra Jadeja. While MS Dhoni chipped in with a fiery 27 off 12 balls towards the end, it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap.
For PBKS, Lockie Ferguson was the standout bowler with figures of 2/40. Yash Thakur (1/39) and Glenn Maxwell (1/11) also contributed with key wickets.
Earlier, after opting to bat, PBKS lost Prabhsimran Singh early to Mukesh Choudhary for a two-ball duck. Skipper Shreyas Iyer was dismissed shortly after by Khaleel Ahmed for nine.

Despite wickets falling around him, Priyansh Arya remained unfazed. He smashed two sixes in an over early on, then brought up his half-century off just 19 balls. He later accelerated, hammering Ashwin and Pathirana for a flurry of sixes and fours. His century came in just 39 balls and included seven fours and nine sixes.
“Noor ended the 71-run stand between Shashank and Priyansh, removing the latter for 103 in 42 balls, with seven fours and nine sixes.”
Shashank Singh (52* off 36) and Marco Jansen (34* off 19) added valuable runs at the death, pushing PBKS to a strong finish at 219/6.
Khaleel Ahmed (2/45) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/48) were CSK’s top wicket-takers, while Choudhary and Pathirana grabbed a wicket each.
