Arvind Kejriwal To Meet Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, AAP Leaders Amid Delhi Poll Setback

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal is set to hold a crucial meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, state ministers, and MLAs in Delhi on February 11 to discuss the recent Delhi election results and prepare for the upcoming Punjab elections in 2027, according to sources.

The meeting comes in the wake of AAP’s major electoral setback in the Delhi Assembly elections, where the party managed to win only 22 seats, a steep decline from 62 seats in the 2020 elections. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a historic victory, winning 48 out of 70 seats, marking its return to power in Delhi after 27 years.

Congress Leader Claims AAP MLAs Ready to Switch Sides

Amid AAP’s declining fortunes, Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa alleged that over 30 AAP legislators in Punjab are in contact with Congress and are willing to switch sides.

Bajwa also took a swipe at AAP over its Delhi election defeat, calling it a “humiliating loss” and questioning Kejriwal’s credibility. “With this defeat, a regime of deceitfulness, lies, and hollow promises has ended. The AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal once said, ‘If I am corrupt, people wouldn’t vote for me.’ Now he has lost his own seat. Does that mean the people of Delhi consider him corrupt?” he remarked.

Further targeting the AAP-led Punjab government, Bajwa accused Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann of making “lofty promises” in the 2022 Punjab elections without delivering results. “The AAP Punjab has yet to provide Rs 1,000 per month to women. It failed to raise Rs 20,000 crore from mining,” he stated.

Additionally, Bajwa criticized Mann’s administration for allegedly failing to act against corruption within its ranks. He warned that the Mann government could meet the same fate as AAP in Delhi, predicting that AAP’s downfall has begun and will be evident in the 2027 Punjab elections.
