Arvind Kejriwal Admits to Unfulfilled Promises, Pledges Completion in Next Term

AAP leader acknowledges setbacks in cleaning Yamuna, clean drinking water supply, and upgrading Delhi roads

New Delhi, January 19: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday openly admitted to falling short on three key promises made during his tenure: cleaning the Yamuna River, ensuring clean drinking water, and bringing Delhi’s roads to European standards. Kejriwal pledged that these tasks would be prioritized and completed if AAP is re-elected in the upcoming assembly elections.

Speaking to a gathering in Laxmi Bai Nagar, Kejriwal emphasized his commitment to transparency, stating, “I am truthful to my promises. Either I fulfill them or I remind people of what I promised but couldn’t deliver.”

Promises for the Future

Kejriwal provided updates on progress for the pending projects:

  • Yamuna Cleaning: “A lot of work has been done. Yamuna will be fully cleaned in the next two to three years,” he assured.
  • 24-Hour Clean Drinking Water: Pilot projects have already started in parts of Rajendra Nagar, and expansion to all areas is planned.
  • European-Standard Roads: Kejriwal pledged to upgrade Delhi’s road infrastructure in the next five years.

Achievements Highlighted

The AAP leader also spoke about his government’s achievements, particularly in education and electricity:

  • 24-Hour Power Supply: “In 2014, there were daily 10-hour power cuts. Today, Delhi has 24-hour electricity, and it’s the cheapest in India,” he said.
  • Education Reforms: Kejriwal highlighted government school improvements, boasting a 99.7% pass rate last year, surpassing private schools’ 92% result. “Providing free and good education is the most patriotic work,” he remarked.

Upcoming Elections

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with vote counting scheduled on February 8. Kejriwal urged voters to grant AAP another term to complete the pending promises and continue their developmental agenda.
