Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah over alleged police harassment of AAP workers. Kejriwal accused Shah of bringing his “hooliganism” from Gujarat to Delhi, asserting that the people of the capital would not tolerate such behavior.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said:
“Amit Shah ji has completely lost his temper. Amit ji, you may have committed hooliganism in Gujarat, but Delhi will not tolerate your hooliganism.”
AAP leader Sanjay Singh echoed Kejriwal’s allegations, accusing the BJP of using the police to harass AAP workers out of fear of electoral defeat. Singh claimed that Delhi Police raided the residence of an AAP worker, Bunty Shekhawat, in BR Camp of the New Delhi Legislative Assembly, allegedly violating rules.
Singh wrote on X:
“The BJP is losing the elections badly. The police, scared of defeat, are harassing our workers. Delhi Police is raiding the house of AAP worker Bunty Shekhawat in BR Camp of the New Delhi Legislative Assembly, flouting the rules and laws. @ECISVEEP @CPDelhi, take cognizance of the incident.”
Speaking to media, Sanjay Singh further alleged:
“BJP is going to lose in the New Delhi constituency. When Parvesh Verma distributes money and other things, no action is taken even after we file complaints about it. On the other hand, a false complaint was made against our party workers, and based on that, they were detained. How can we campaign in such a situation?”
The Delhi Assembly Elections are set for February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats.
The AAP, which dominated the last two assembly elections, secured 67 seats in 2015 and 62 seats in 2020 out of the total 70. In contrast, the BJP managed only three and eight seats, respectively, during these elections. The Congress, which previously held power in Delhi for 15 years, has failed to win any seats in the past two elections.
