Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Key Initiatives, Including Dulari Kanya Scheme Revamp And New Policies

Kurung Kumey, Arunachal Pradesh [India]: The Arunachal Pradesh government has approved significant reforms, including the revamping of the Dulari Kanya Scheme, aimed at benefiting girl children, as well as the introduction of multiple new policies for overall development in the state.

During the fourth outdoor cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Monday, the government raised the fixed deposit amount for institutional births of girl children under the Dulari Kanya Scheme from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000, which will mature at the age of 18. Additionally, an amount of Rs 20,000 will be provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Class XI admissions, bringing the total financial support to Rs 50,000. This initiative is part of the Cabinet Aapke Dwar program aimed at improving governance and welfare schemes.

In another significant development, the Arunachal Pradesh Arun Parivar Patra Authority Bill, 2025 was approved. This bill seeks to create a family-centric citizen database, facilitating better governance and policy implementation in the state.

Key Cabinet Approvals and Policies

The cabinet also approved the establishment of the Institute for Transforming Arunachal (ITA), which will serve as the state’s policy think tank, providing research-backed recommendations and strategic direction for development.

The Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2025 was also approved, paving the way for modifications to the Arunachal Pradesh Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.

The government further enacted measures to address the issue of encroachment, amending the Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act 2003. A new amendment will allow any officer of at least Deputy Commissioner rank to act as the appellate authority in cases related to unauthorized land occupancy.

To promote local crafts, the Arunachal Pradesh Handloom and Handicrafts Policy – 2024 was launched, which includes an updated database for artisans and weavers and increased financial awards for exceptional craftsmanship.

The cabinet also focused on child welfare, approving the creation of 270 contractual posts for child helpline services across the state.

Public Safety and Infrastructure

For enhanced public safety, the government approved the establishment of five new fire stations in various districts, as well as the creation of 90 related posts.

To speed up the legal process, the Directorate of Prosecution will be set up to handle cases efficiently and provide legal services across the state.

Additionally, the cabinet decided to wind up isolated Engineering Wings to streamline project execution and improve quality control.

Youth and Sports Initiatives

In a move to empower the youth, the cabinet introduced the Mission Olympics, aiming to provide top-tier training and support for athletes from Arunachal Pradesh. Badminton, Taekwondo, Judo, Skateboarding, Weightlifting, and Wushu will be the focus sports for the initiative.

As part of the state’s declaration of 2024-25 as the Year of Youth, the Arunachal Pradesh Youth Policy was approved, which includes youth development goals and implementation strategies. Notably, the Late Kalikho Pul Memorial State Table Tennis Championship and Late Jambey Tashi Memorial State Level Tug of War Championship will be established as state calendar events.
