Indian Army Restores Pension For Mother Of Martyred Soldier After Three-Year Wait

Tamulpur (Assam) [India]: In a heartfelt gesture honoring a soldier’s ultimate sacrifice, the Indian Army’s Tamulpur Brigade has successfully restored the long-pending family pension for Veer Mata Biwari Boro, mother of Late Guardsman Barun Chandra Boro of the 7 GUARDS regiment.

“A soldier’s sacrifice is eternal, and so must be the nation’s gratitude,” stated an official release from the Defence Press Relations Officer (PRO).

Biwari Boro endured a challenging three-year wait after her rightful pension was halted in 2021 due to procedural lapses following her husband’s demise. Despite the loss of her son in service to the nation, the delay in her pension caused significant hardships.

During a veterans’ outreach programme, the Tamulpur Brigade identified her plight and promptly intervened. The Brigade, with dedicated coordination between the Regimental Centre and the concerned bank, ensured the correction of documentation errors. Their sustained efforts led to the successful reinstatement of Biwari Boro’s pension.

As a result of these efforts, arrears amounting to Rs 17 lakh were credited to her account, and her monthly pension was restored. Expressing her relief and gratitude, Boro’s response symbolized the deep bond of respect and support that the Indian Army extends to the families of fallen soldiers.

This initiative highlights the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to its veterans and their families. As Tamulpur prepares to host the Mega Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally on March 9, 2025, this resolution stands as a powerful reminder that while a soldier may fall, their family will never be left alone.
