Army Foils Major JeM Infiltration Bid Along LoC In Rajouri, Captures Pakistani Guide

The Indian Army on Sunday successfully foiled a major infiltration attempt by heavily armed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gambhir sector of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir. The operation also led to the capture of a Pakistani national who was allegedly guiding the infiltrators.

“The swift and decisive action by alert troops resulted in the capture of a key guide, effectively disrupting the infiltration attempt and likely causing injuries to the infiltrating terrorists,” said a Defence spokesperson.

Pakistani Guide Apprehended

The arrested individual has been identified as Mohammad Arib Ahmed, son of Mohammad Yousuf from Detote village in the Nikiyal area of Kotli district, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Army officials caught him illegally attempting to cross into Indian territory.

Coordinated Operation by Army and BSF

According to the Army, a well-coordinated counter-infiltration operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs about an infiltration attempt being planned by a group of four to five terrorists.

“Vigilant troops, maintaining an aggressive surveillance posture in the rugged terrain, detected suspicious movement by the group attempting to exploit the terrain and foliage to infiltrate,” said a Defence official.

During the operation, the guide was apprehended, while the remaining terrorists reportedly sustained injuries and were forced to retreat across the LoC under the cover of dense foliage and inclement weather.

Recovery and Interrogation

A search operation in the area led to the recovery of sensitive items, including a mobile phone and Pakistani currency.

Initial interrogation revealed that the captured individual is a resident of PoK and was operating under instructions from Pakistan Army officers stationed at forward posts.

“The individual also confirmed that the JeM terrorists were carrying significant quantities of warlike stores, including arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials, further confirming the nefarious intentions of the infiltrators,” the officer added.

The captured guide is now being interrogated by a joint interrogation team, and officials stated that critical intelligence is being extracted, which will strengthen the existing counter-infiltration grid along the LoC.

This development comes close on the heels of an earlier attempted intrusion, underscoring India’s persistent challenge in securing its borders from cross-border terrorism sponsored from Pakistan.
