New Delhi [India], May 19: Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Longewala in the forward areas of the Konark Corps on Sunday to commend troops for their exemplary performance during Operation Sindoor and to review ongoing joint operations conducted in close coordination with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and Border Security Force (BSF).
The desert region, spanning from Jaisalmer to Kutch, was the stage for a swift and synchronized operational response by Indian forces. The combined efforts of the Army, IAF, and BSF successfully countered hostile intentions, reinforcing operational dominance along India’s western frontier.
As part of Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army executed rapid deployments of surveillance systems and air defence assets. In collaboration with the IAF and BSF, the armed forces calibrated weapon system placements and utilized support from civil administration to secure the region and neutralize emerging threats effectively.
During his visit, General Dwivedi interacted with personnel of the Konark Corps and lauded their courage and vigilance. With a spirited “Shabash!”, he praised the soldiers for their determination and successful neutralisation of enemy drone threats, which thwarted any potential incursions in the desert sector.
The Army Chief commended the leadership and operational excellence displayed by units and commanders, highlighting the importance of integration, morale, and preparedness. He reiterated the Indian Army’s legacy of honour and unwavering readiness to meet evolving security challenges with resolve and precision.
General Dwivedi also acknowledged the resilience of troops serving in extreme desert conditions during peak summer, expressing both personal and national gratitude for their tireless dedication in defending India’s sovereignty.
