New Delhi [India], June 18 : Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, along with six former Chiefs of Army Staff, met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday. The meeting was confirmed by the President of India via an official post on social media.
The delegation included General VP Malik, General NC Vij, General JJ Singh, General Deepak Kapoor, General Bikram Singh, and General Manoj Pande. They accompanied General Dwivedi to the Presidential residence, underscoring a gesture of respect and continuity in military leadership.
This high-profile meeting followed the Indian Army’s ‘Chiefs Chintan’ held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi. The strategic interaction focused on post-Operation Sindoor planning and aimed to harness the experience of former Army Chiefs for shaping the force’s future.
“Chief’s Chintan, an interaction between General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS and the former CsOAS, was held at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The event, conducted after Operation SINDOOR, aims to leverage the vast experience and strategic insights of former CsOAS to shape the Indian Army’s future,” read a post by the Indian Army on X.
An official statement revealed that the event included a detailed operational briefing on Operation Sindoor, particularly highlighting coordinated operations with the Indian Navy and Air Force. Discussions also covered technological upgrades, modernisation efforts, and jointmanship strategies.
The former Chiefs offered strategic insights on subjects such as the Army’s role in the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision, technological adaptation, reforms in human resource policies, and veteran welfare schemes.
“The interaction reaffirms the continuity of leadership and collective commitment to keep the Indian Army future-ready,” the statement added, reflecting the evolving approach to military preparedness in the country.
