Arjun Rampal Honors Late Designer Rohit Bal With Emotional Runway Tribute At India Couture Week 2025

July 29, 2025: At the Hyundai India Couture Week 2025, actor Arjun Rampal delivered a powerful and emotional tribute to his late friend and legendary fashion designer Rohit Bal, affectionately known as “Gudda.” The show, held in New Delhi, was not just a fashion statement—it was a heartfelt farewell.

Dressed in a stunning black velvet sherwani, Rampal exuded elegance and strength. The long, flowing outfit shimmered subtly beneath the runway lights, commanding both attention and emotion. But the moment that captured hearts came when Rampal looked up and pointed to the sky, a silent gesture honoring his late friend and mentor.

“He Was My Mentor, My Brother”: Rampal Remembers Rohit Bal

Speaking to ANI after the show, Rampal admitted to holding back tears:

“I had to hold them in; that’s what I had to do. It was difficult. He was my mentor, friend, best friend, great designer, great teacher, and brother.”

He added a personal touch, revealing a mantra that Bal often lived by:

“I’ll tell you a secret about Rohit Bal. He said, ‘Fashion is fun; never take it seriously.’”

Rampal has long shared a deep friendship and professional collaboration with Bal, having walked in multiple of his shows over the years—including the grand finale of Bal’s Kashmir-inspired “Gulbagh” collection, where Rampal was the showstopper.

A Signature Finale for a Legendary Designer

The show ended in classic Rohit Bal fashion—models breaking into a spontaneous celebratory dance, a joyful tradition that marked many of his finales. As the crowd rose in a standing ovation, many in the audience were moved to tears, a powerful acknowledgment of Bal’s enduring legacy.

The ‘Kash-Gul’ Collection: A Fusion of Craft and Emotion

The showcased collection, titled ‘Kash-Gul’, drew inspiration from the serene landscapes of Kashmir and the poetic grace of Gulistan, the garden of flowers. Crafted from luxurious Chanderi, matka silk, and velvet, the designs were embellished with gold zardozi and delicate threadwork, blending heritage with soul.

The color palette featured black, ivory, and wine tones, bringing depth and emotion to the pieces, reflecting both the designer’s artistic eye and his personal journey.

Rohit Bal’s Final Bow

Rohit Bal passed away on November 1, 2024, at the age of 63 after a prolonged battle with heart-related health issues. Just weeks before his passing, Bal made a stirring return to the runway at Lakme Fashion Week with his collection, “Kaaynaat: A Bloom in the Universe,” a display of resilience and passion following a challenging year.

Sadly, that would be the last time the fashion world would witness his genius live.

A Fitting Tribute for a Fashion Icon

Arjun Rampal’s runway walk served as a symbol of respect, love, and remembrance, not only highlighting the beauty of the collection but also celebrating a life that shaped Indian couture for decades. Rohit Bal’s influence continues to live on—not just through fabric and thread, but through the hearts he touched.
