Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) [India], April 20: Renowned playback singer Arijit Singh visited the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, where he took part in the sacred Bhasma Aarti along with his wife.

The couple participated in the spiritually significant early morning ritual, known for its deep devotion and grandeur. Arijit was seen in an orange kurta with a chandan tilak adorning his forehead, while his wife, dressed in a traditional red saree, accompanied him throughout the ceremony.
The Mahakaleshwar Temple, nestled along the banks of the Shipra River, is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas — a highly revered site for Lord Shiva devotees. The Bhasma Aarti, one of the temple’s most iconic rituals, is conducted during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 am and 5:30 am.
As part of the ceremony, the temple doors are opened, and Lord Mahakal is bathed with Panchamrit — a sacred blend of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey. The deity is then adorned with cannabis leaves and sandalwood paste before the Bhasma Aarti commences, accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of drums and conch shells.
This deeply revered ritual is believed to bring blessings and fulfill the wishes of those who participate, drawing thousands of pilgrims throughout the year, especially during Mahashivratri and the holy month of Shravan.
