In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, director AR Murugadoss talked about the surprise roots of his next movie, Madharaasi, which will feature Sivakarthikeyan. Murugadoss said that he had originally planned for the movie to be in Hindi and had even pitched the main role to Shah Rukh Khan.
The director said that he met Khan roughly seven or eight years ago through cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran. He didn’t have a whole script at that point; he merely had a strong idea for the character. Murugadoss remarked, “I didn’t plan the whole movie with Shah Rukh Khan, but I did pitch the character to him a long time ago.” “He even liked it.”
But even though Khan was excited at first, the initiative never got off the ground. The filmmaker said that a big delay in the process was the main reason why the movie starring the Bollywood star didn’t happen. He also said that after making the 2008 movie Ghajini with Aamir Khan, he lost interest in working in Hindi movies. Shah Rukh Khan’s lack of communication also played a role in his decision to give up on the concept.
What the Director and Star Want to Happen in the Future
Murugadoss’s movie is set to come out on September 5, 2025, now that the Madharaasi project with Shah Rukh Khan is over. Sivakarthikeyan plays the main character in the movie, which has been in the news because of its star-studded ensemble. Rukmini Vasanth, Vidyut Jammwal, and Biju Menon also star.
In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in the box office hits Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki. He is now working on Siddharth Anand’s upcoming movie, King, in which he will act with his daughter, Suhana Khan.
Madharaasi is Murugadoss’s first time directing since the release of Sikandar, which starred Salman Khan and did poorly at the box office. Murugadoss has recently talked about why he thinks the movie didn’t resonate with people.
