Anushka Sharma Hails R Ashwin’s Enduring Legacy In Indian Cricket

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 19: India’s legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket shortly after the Brisbane Test ended in a draw, bringing an end to an illustrious career. The cricket world, including both legends and Bollywood celebrities, celebrated Ashwin’s remarkable achievements with bat and ball.

Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, wife of cricketer Virat Kohli, shared a touching video of Ashwin announcing his retirement during a press conference, captioning it with “A Lasting Legacy.” In the video, Ashwin is seen addressing his teammates and reflecting on his career.

Other Bollywood stars also paid tribute to the spin maestro. Ranveer Singh, sharing a post on his Instagram story, wrote, “One of the greatest to ever do it. Thank you for the memories.” Actor Nakuul Mehta also honored Ashwin’s contribution, noting, “End of The Carrom Ball Maestro Era.” Mehta went on to recall some of Indian cricket’s iconic moments and Ashwin’s key role in them, stating, “Ashwin’s contribution to Indian cricket will truly be understood in the years to come. An absolute master and servant to the game. Thank you for making our lives richer with your play.”

Arjun Kapoor also expressed his admiration on Instagram, writing, “To the man who gave us moments to celebrate, matches to remember, and pride that can’t be measured. Thank you, Ashwin, for being a true game-changer. #ThankYouAshwin.”

Ashwin’s international career began in 2011 with a Test debut against the West Indies, and he went on to feature in 106 Tests, taking 537 wickets, including 37 five-wicket hauls, while also scoring 3,503 runs. He excelled in matches against Australia, taking 115 wickets in 23 Tests against them, with an impressive economy rate of 2.71. Notably, Ashwin holds the record for the most wickets taken in a single Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, claiming 29 wickets in the 2020-21 edition.

With his incredible achievements, Ashwin leaves behind a legacy that has made a significant mark on Indian cricket, becoming one of the game’s greatest bowlers and an inspiration for future generations.
