Anurag Thakur Slams AAP, Predicts Kejriwal’s Defeat, Calls Party ‘Anti-Women’

New Delhi [India], January 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Anurag Thakur launched a fierce attack on AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, claiming that the Delhi Chief Minister is set to face defeat in the upcoming elections. Thakur accused Kejriwal and the AAP of being “anti-women” and failing to deliver on promises related to pollution, the Yamuna River, and clean drinking water.

Thakur said, “Arvind Kejriwal is going to get ‘stumped’ and ‘clean bowled’ by the people of Delhi. They want clean drinking water, clean air, clean roads, and a cleaner Yamuna. That’s why the people of Delhi will sweep away AAPda, AAP, and Arvind Kejriwal from Delhi.”

Thakur went on to criticize the AAP leadership’s treatment of women, referencing an incident involving AAP MP Swati Maliwal, whom he claimed was “assaulted” after being summoned to Kejriwal’s residence.

“The people of AAP are anti-women. They insult and betray women in Delhi. I’ll give you an example: the party’s MP Swati Maliwal was called by Arvind Kejriwal to his house and assaulted,” he said.

Thakur also pointed to unfulfilled promises such as the Rs 1000 scheme for women in Delhi and Punjab, alleging that women were left waiting for water delivered by tankers. He also highlighted the issue of women performing rituals during Chhath Puja at the polluted Yamuna River.

“On Chhath Puja, women had to perform prayers at the polluted Yamuna. The Rs 1000 promise to women remains unfulfilled, and they have to wait for hours for water supply. Even Atishi’s and Kejriwal’s faces aren’t visible on party hoardings—this reflects their lack of respect for women,” he added.

Thakur also raised questions about Kejriwal’s Z+ security status in Punjab despite not holding any official position in the state, criticizing the contradictions in the party’s actions.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Atishi accused the BJP of conspiring to harm Kejriwal, alleging that BJP workers had orchestrated attacks on the Delhi CM during his election campaign. Atishi claimed that the Delhi Police, under BJP influence, had failed to take action against the attackers.

“BJP workers have been attacking Arvind Kejriwal and the Delhi Police has been inactive, showing clear collusion with the BJP,” she said.

Atishi also claimed that Kejriwal had been targeted multiple times during his campaign, with the AAP itself finding that many of the attackers were BJP workers.

The allegations came as Punjab Police withdrew security for Kejriwal after instructions from the Election Commission, further adding fuel to the ongoing political tensions ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.

The elections will determine the makeup of the 70-seat Delhi Assembly, with AAP hoping for another strong showing after dominating the 2015 and 2020 elections.
