Anupamaa Actor Rupali Ganguly Calls For Humane Treatment Of Stray Dogs, Responds To Trolls

Mumbai: Television actress Rupali Ganguly, best known for her part in the hit program “Anupamaa,” has spoken out about the Supreme Court’s recent order to send all stray canines in Delhi-NCR to shelters within eight weeks. Her response has generated a debate online, with one person on social media asking why she supports strays if she doesn’t eat meat. Ganguly made it clear that she is a proud vegetarian and will keep giving money to animal sanctuaries.

Ganguly said on X that “In our traditions, dogs guard Bhairav Baba’s temple and are fed on Amavasya for blessings.” They’ve grown up on our streets, protecting stores, waiting at our doors, and barking at burglars. If we take them away now, we might lose our protectors before the true threats come, like turning off an alarm before a fire. It is not kind to send them to shelters far away; it is exile. Stray dogs are not strangers; they are part of our faith, culture, and safety. Take care of them, give them shots, feed them, and let them live where they belong. #straydogs.

Someone who uses X replied to her post and disagreed with her. “You can’t support #straydogs if you eat chicken, mutton, beef, fish, or anything else,” the user said. All creatures deserve love. The user also pushed her and other supporters of the cause by telling them to adopt strays, collect money for shelters, and see what it’s like to get bitten by a dog.

Rupali Ganguly defended her viewpoint and personal decisions in a long answer. She said, “Every day I feed the animals that are homeless… Every animal I feed has been vaccinated and sterilized on a regular basis. I support gaushalas and animal sanctuaries… not just in my city, but all over India… I’m a proud vegetarian… and I help the homeless pets… I don’t have any elite breeds at home; I have four indies instead. My child has been among so-called stray animals since he was a baby, and even animals that didn’t know him before have safeguarded him. They know what love and kindness are, which is something most people don’t. “This world belongs to everyone.”

The Supreme Court, made up of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan, said that all areas in NCT Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, and Ghaziabad must be free of stray dogs, with no exceptions. The court also made it plain that no animal that was caught would be let go back outside.

This order has made other famous people respond as well. John Abraham, Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Vir Das, and Chinmayi are just a few of the other well-known people who have shared their thoughts on social media.
