Veteran actor Anupam Kher is making waves at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in France, where his latest directorial venture, Tanvi The Great, is set for its world premiere on May 17. This marks Kher’s return to direction after several years.
The actor has been actively sharing glimpses of his Cannes experience on social media. In a recent Instagram video, he introduced the film’s writers, Abhishek Dixit and Ankur Suman. “Here, our film Tanvi The Great is going to have its world premiere on the 17th. But I thought I’d introduce you to two other writers of this film… This is Abhishek Dixit ji. And this is Ankur Suman ji,” he shared.
Earlier in the day, Kher posted a series of stylish pictures from Cannes, dressed in a formal suit. One photo also featured Shubhangi Dutt, the debutant who plays the titular role of Tanvi. He humorously captioned the post, “You CAN try to look good in CANNES! Hai Na?? #TanviTheGreat #WorldPremier.”
The film stars an ensemble cast including Shubhangi Dutt, Karan Tacker—making his feature film debut after years in television and digital content—Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, and Arvind Swami. International actor Iain Glen, known for his role in Game of Thrones, also features prominently.
Tanvi The Great boasts sound design by Academy Award-winner Resul Pookutty, known for his work on Slumdog Millionaire. The film is produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC). A theatrical release date has not yet been announced.
