Mumbai, February 10: Renowned actor Anupam Kher was honoured for his Philosophy of Optimism at the Illuminate Oncology Townhall 2.0 event held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The prestigious recognition came from Professor James Allison, a Nobel Prize winner, as part of an event organised by Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital.
The event symbolised the collective commitment to advancing the field of oncology and enhancing patient care through innovation and collaboration.
Taking to Instagram, Anupam Kher shared his gratitude and called this recognition a “Unique Honour”, noting that it was the first time he had been recognised for something beyond his acting career. He expressed his thanks to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, Professor Padmanee Sharma, and Dr. Sewanti Limaye for the special recognition.
In his post, Anupam wrote, “MOST UNIQUE HONOUR FOR ME BY A NOBEL LAUREATE: Apart from my acting or contribution to cinema, I have been awarded for many reasons in the past. But last night I was felicitated by #SirHNRelianceFoundationHospital for the most amazing reason by a #NobelPrizeWinner Prof. #JamesAllison and Prof. #PadmaneeSharma. It was for my philosophy of OPTIMISM!”
Anupam Kher also expressed his joy of being honoured alongside the medical royalty of the world, saying, “I am over the moon to be flanked on both sides by the Medical Royalty of the world.”
The event also saw Anupam Kher conversing with Professor James Allison and other distinguished professionals from the medical field.
Actor Prepares – Kher’s Biggest Achievement
Anupam Kher’s recent honour comes as a continuation of his exceptional contributions. In addition to his remarkable career in cinema, the actor’s acting institute Actor Prepares, which completed 20 years recently, holds a special place in his heart. He called this milestone the “biggest achievement” of his life, considering the impact it has had on budding actors.
Established in 2005, Actor Prepares has seen numerous notable alumni, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, and Varun Dhawan.
In an interview with ANI, Anupam stated, “In these 20 years, my biggest achievement which I believe is my acting school. I have done over 500 films. In some, I did good work while some were medium. But when I meet people in events or programmes and a student approaches me and says ‘I am your student from the 2008 batch or so’ then I feel that no trophy can be bigger than this.”
Anupam Kher was last seen in Emergency, a film directed by Kangana Ranaut, which depicted the 21-month Emergency imposed by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi between 1975 and 1977.
