Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh) [India]: Veteran actor Anupam Kher arrived in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj to participate in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest and most significant religious gatherings.
Upon his arrival, Kher shared his excitement about being part of the spiritual event. “I am here to participate in this spiritual gathering. It feels so good to see people from all walks of life here. I also applaud Uttar Pradesh government and CM Yogi Adityanath for organising this historic festival in a responsible and safe manner,” Kher told media.
Renowned Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty, also in Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, praised the event’s organisation. Speaking to media, she said, “I had made a vow for three days, I took a holy dip yesterday, today I will do that as well, and tomorrow again. My maternal grandfather, maternal grandmother, grandfather, none of them could come – that is why I have to offer tarpan in their name and I am very happy…”
Murty also expressed her admiration for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, saying, “Arrangements are very good here. Police under the leadership of Yogiji have done so much good (work) for the people. May God give him a long life.”
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, is expected to continue until February 26. The key ‘snan’ dates are: January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
In terms of security, over 10,000 personnel, including local police and paramilitary forces, have been deployed by Uttar Pradesh Police. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also stationed “water ambulances” at the Sangam to ensure the safety of the devotees.
