Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India] Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister MK Stalin, calling him a “con artist” who is “masquerading” as a protector of the Constitution amid the ongoing three-language policy row.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Annamalai accused the DMK of deceiving both the rich and the poor.
“Thiru @mkstalin, you are a con artist masquerading as a protector of our Constitution and federal structure. Usually, con artists scam the rich, but DMK shows no disparity; they scam both the rich and the poor.”
Allegations of Hypocrisy
Annamalai further accused CM Stalin’s family of running private schools that teach three languages while opposing the same policy for government schools in Tamil Nadu.
“The whole country now knows that the Tamil Nadu CM’s family owns private schools that teach three languages but opposes the same policy for government school students. People are calling you a hypocrite, Thiru @mkstalin.”
Criticizing the DMK’s stance, Annamalai said that Stalin mistakenly believes that “orchestrated drama” by his party members reflects the voice of the entire state.
“TN CM thinks that the orchestrated drama by his partymen reflects the voice of the entire TN. Your attempts to divert people’s attention to insignificant matters have been exposed.”
He concluded with a sarcastic remark:
“Live in your blissful world of ignorance, Thiru @mkstalin. We will not disturb you.”
Stalin’s Response to Yogi Adityanath
Annamalai’s remarks come after CM MK Stalin’s fierce criticism of Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath over his comments on the three-language policy and delimitation.
In response to CM Yogi’s interview with media, Stalin called his remarks “political black comedy” and said the BJP was rattled by Tamil Nadu’s firm stance on the two-language policy and fair delimitation.
“Tamil Nadu’s fair and firm voice on #TwoLanguagePolicy and #FairDelimitation is echoing nationwide—and the BJP is clearly rattled. Just watch their leaders’ interviews.”
“Now, Hon’ble Yogi Adityanath wants to lecture us on hate? Spare us. This isn’t irony—it’s political black comedy at its darkest.”
Yogi Adityanath on the Language Row
In his ANI interview, CM Yogi Adityanath accused Stalin of playing “narrow politics” and trying to create divisions based on region and language for electoral gains.
“When these people feel their vote bank is at risk, they try to create divisions based on region and language. Language should unite, not divide, people.”
He emphasized that Tamil is one of India’s oldest and richest languages and should not be used as a tool for division.
“I believe this is the message conveyed by our National Anthem as well. The people of this country should always be alert to such divisive politics and stand firm for unity.”
Background: The Three-Language Policy Standoff
The three-language policy dispute stems from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which recommends teaching Hindi, English, and a regional language in schools. The Tamil Nadu government has consistently opposed this, insisting on its long-standing two-language policy (Tamil and English).
Additionally, on March 22, the Joint Action Committee (JAC), led by CM Stalin, passed a resolution on delimitation, urging the Centre not to “penalize” states like Tamil Nadu that have successfully implemented population control programs.
With tensions rising between the Centre and the Tamil Nadu government, the language debate continues to fuel political clashes ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
