Anita Advani, who was romantically linked to legendary actor Rajesh Khanna, has accused his family of abandoning him during his final, troubled years while ultimately inheriting his entire estate. In a critique on the show “REEL Meet REAL,” Advani warned the family about the consequences of “karma” as she continues her legal fight for a share of his legacy.
A Life of Fame and Solitude
Advani recalled the “heartbreak” of 1982, when his wife, actress Dimple Kapadia, left him. She claimed that for three decades, Khanna “lost everything” and was “stuck—no divorce, no resolution.” While Kapadia did return to care for him during his final illness, Advani stated that by the time discussions about his estate began, “Everything went completely out of control… Yet, the family ended up with his entire property. That in itself is a big story.”
Rajesh Khanna, known as India’s first superstar, lived a life of immense fame but also eventual solitude. He married Dimple Kapadia in 1973, but their relationship was rocky, and they separated in 1982 without ever officially divorcing. In his final years, he reportedly lived a reclusive life at his Mumbai bungalow, Aashirwad.
Legal Battle and a Warning of Karma
Advani’s legal battle for a share of Khanna’s estate is ongoing. She stated that a recent Supreme Court statement suggests an earlier order against her “holds no weight,” adding, “No one can take anything with them after they go. Why cheat like this? Every relationship deserves respect. Karma comes around on its own.”
Rajesh Khanna passed away on July 18, 2012, at the age of 69, after a prolonged illness. His death marked the end of an era in Indian cinema, leaving behind a complex personal and cinematic legacy.
