Actor Angad Bedi recently shared a deeply emotional and inspiring story on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel about his international athletics victory, which occurred just days after the death of his father, legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi.
🏃 Honouring a Father’s Dream
While giving a tour of his Mumbai residence, Angad showed a gold medal displayed on a picture of his late father. He revealed that winning the race was his way of honoring his father’s final wish.
- The Dream: Angad stated that five years ago, his father, Bishan Singh Bedi, expressed a desire for him to “do something for my country” by running.
- The Race: Angad competed in the 400m race at the Open International Masters 2023 Athletics Championship, which was held in Dubai.
- The Dedication: Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23, 2023. Angad’s race took place only four days after his father’s chautha (fourth-day memorial ceremony). Angad emotionally recounted his decision: “I said, ‘Mala nahi chadaunga, mein medal chadaunga.’ (I said I won’t put a garland on him, I will put the medal.)”
Angad won the gold medal in the 400-meter race, completing it in an impressive time of 67 seconds, an achievement that fellow guest Farah Khan noted sounded like a scene from a movie.
